And Spring into Summer

While we here at OverthinkingAnime.com have been working hard on a redesign with new content, interface, and design, the march of anime seasons has moved on. This season I have picked up many new titles in addition to ongoing and long running series. I have been increasingly happy that I have chosen to support the work of Crunchyroll with a paid subscription. I have also been pleasantly surprised by Funimation’s website and that company’s commitment to stream many of titles from their catalog.

Summer 2011 brings the pleasure of smart, good looking, legal anime to US viewers

Here’s what I’m watching right now:

  • New Shows/ shows returning after a hiatus: Natsume Yuujinchou San, Dantalian no Shoka, Nurarihyon no Mago, Usagi Drop, No. 6, and Ikoku Meiro no Crosée. Two other shows are waiting to be previewed: Blood-C and Kamisama no Memoshou.
  • Ongoing Shows: Hanasaku Iroha, One Piece, Beelzebub, Naruto Shippuuden, Bleach, SKET Dance, Tiger and Bunny, Fairy Tail, Ao no Exorcist, and Stein’s Gate.
  • Older Shows: Eureka 7, Toradora, Utawarerumono, and Cluster Edge.

Here is a preview of some articles that are in the pipeline and will be available following the new design launch:

  • Ecumenism in Japanese Anime: Religious Cooperation in Ao no Exocist and Ghost Hunt
  • Implications of Spiritual Infectiousness of Kurosaki Ichigo
  • Resource Sharing in Fairy Tail‘s Edolas, Extalia, and Earthland
  • My famous Grandfather: the burden and blessing of succession (looking at Kindaishi Shounen no Jikenbo, Natsume Yuujinchou, and Nurarihyon no Mago)
  • More cultural translations for Kuragehime and perhaps for Hanasaku Iroha

I hope you will stick with us through this transitional time.
