And Winter turned into Spring

…and there was much rejoicing. So with little in the way of introduction, here’s watch I’m watching this Spring:

New shows: Serious props have to go to Crunchyroll for making so many titles available to Americans so quickly.

  • Hanasaku Iroha: visually stunning and the characters seem to have the capacity to grow.
  • Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: I’m hoping that Ritsu is more self-aware than

New Spring titles look great in columns!!

his Junjou look-alike, Misaki, but I’m not holding my breath.
  • C: Isn’t this the 2nd manga the Bakuman guys were trying to sell? But in all seriousness, this is probably the most overtly philosophical title of the season.
  • Hyouge Mono: I am hoping that this is subtitled soon; the little I’ve seen makes me want to see more.
  • Tiger & Bunny: this show is on probation –I’m not sure I’m going to finish it, but I tend to give shows at least 4 episodes before I drop a title.
  • Moshidora: this show was to be the first of the Spring’s offering, but will now come round later in the season. I’m generally a fan of baseball anime, and this one’s twist on team manager sold me.
  • Deadman Wonderland: As unfair as it might be, the disappointment that was Togainu no Chi had me wondering if I wanted to see this at all. The promotional video made me wish the first episode was out already.
  • Sket Dance: see the above comments for Tiger and Bunny…the same apply here.
  • Showa Monogatari: we’ll see if I’m able to watch this one or not (as far as I know the licensed streamer types haven’t picked this one up).

Older and Ongoing Shows: I have quite the back catalog of shows that aired before I started watching so much anime I needed a spreadsheet just to keep track. I also watch some big shonen shows that refuse to end. So here’s the rest of the spreadsheet at the moment.

  • Gintama: I actually had not quite caught up before it’s return, and I’m glad that I was spared the wait
  • One Piece, Bleach, Naruto Shippuuden: will probably be on this list for a while.
  • Gosick, Beelzebub, Fairy Tail: again mad mad props to crunchyroll.
  • Reborn, Toradora, Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai, Cowboy Bebop, Emma, Natsu no Arashi: shows I’ll be wrapping up in a few weeks, but can well serve as examples of how older shows fill out the rest of the spreadsheet.
